Bertschire Health History 

It is our opinion that aside from temperament, health is the most important consideration when planning a breeding.  For this reason, we would like to list the major health problems produced in our breeding program.  Every breeder has health problems in their lines (all dogs, purebred or mixed-breed are subject to genetic disorders), and quality breeders do their best to minimize the risk in every pedigree.  If a breeder tells you their lines are clear of all health problems, they are either not being truthful, or they simply have not discovered the problems yet.  We do not require that our pet owners submit OFA information, so some of this information will be lacking, but we do our best to learn of health issues in all of our litters.  We are supporters of open database health information and participate in the Flat Coated Retriever Society of America's new health database.  Click on a litter to access pedigree.  We invite anyone with additional factual information pertaining to health issues in these pedigrees to contact us with that information.
