Retired Breeding Stock

 

The following dogs and bitches have produced for us, but are now retired from our breeding program and are spayed or neutered and happily enjoying life in pet homes.  They can be found in our pedigrees, and we want to keep their pictures and pedigrees available online.

 

 

 

 

 

 

CH Swallowsflight Coal Kissing Kaper JH - "Caper" is a lovely package of excellent type, sound efficient movement and excellent marking ability, coupled with high trainability.  She is of very moderate size and has personality-plus.  Caper finished with 3 majors in limited showing, and was placed in her sweepstakes class at the 2005 national specialty.  Caper earned her JH in 4 consecutive tests.  At the 2009 and 2010 FCRSA national specialties Caper made several cuts in  very competitive Best of Breed classes.  Eye exam is normal.  Caper retired to a life as a family pet and hunting companion in October 2010 following her 3rd litter.   OFA information

 

 

 

 

 

 

CH Swallowsflight Excalibur's Enigma - "Exel"  is a racy dog of excellent type and character, with  floating movement from all directions.  He has multiple "excellent" ratings and Reserve CC's in the Netherlands.  Exel was Reserve Winners Dog at the 2005 national specialty in Perry, GA.  Exel finished easily, winning Winner's Dog and Best of Winners at the Capitol Region FCRC supported entry in April, 2005 and winning Best of Breed over specials the weekend he finished in June.  Exel has a Group 2, a supported entry BOB and was nationally ranked in 2007, after only 8 weeks of specialing.  His character is faultless, displaying kindness to puppies and adult dogs alike.  Exel is soft in temperament, requiring a thoughtful and gentle hand in training.  Exel is producing overall elegance, improving heads and silhouettes and his kids are displaying talent in the field along with high biddability, including multiple JH titles and one Senior Hunter titled daughter.  Another of his daughters is a top 3 ranked special in 2009; a Sporting Group winner, with multiple group placements as well as her JH title and won Best of Opposite Sex at the 2009 FCRSA national specialty!  Scissor bite.  Eyes are normal, including gonioscopy.  OFA information.  Carries yellow.  Exel is co-owned with his breeder, Leonie Galdermans, and now lives with Ernie and Linda Rudolph.  Exel is no longer available at stud.

 

 

 

 

 

Flat-Tyre's Does Your Mother Know - "Tattle" is a Swedish import, with English lines throughout her pedigree.  She is a big bitch, with a beautiful head, excellent movement, substantial forechest and a nice front.  She has a wicked sense of humor, likes to retrieve and swim and has proven to be a pleasant housedog.   Tattle is co-owned with Cheryl Kistner.  Eye exam is normal OFA information  Tattle had one litter, then was retired because of a history of pyometra infections.  She is moving to a wonderful pet home in North Carolina.

 

Dutch CH Swallowsflight Zodiac Zorra - "Zorra" is a gorgeous bitch we imported in early 2007 in whelp, on a lease agreement with her breeder, Swallowsflight Kennel in the Netherlands.  That litter was co-bred with Rustic, and we kept a beautiful puppy bitch from that combination.  Fully mature at 5 years old, her type is outstanding and her temperament could illustrate the standard.  Also a beautiful moving bitch, Zorra is an absolute delight and has become one of our favorites around the house.  Zorra won the brood bitch class at the 2008 national specialty and shortly thereafter moved back to Holland.

BISS CH Huntlane Under The Sea JH WC

Madison is our stud fee puppy from a breeding of CH Bertschire's BadBadLeroyBrown NA to CH Huntlane Hakuna Matata SH.  She has a lovely silhouette and excellent, balanced movement, on the side and coming and going.   Madison easily earned her Junior Hunter title in spring '05, with extremely limited training.  She is a multiple Group placer, and was awarded a Judge's Award of Merit at both the 2003 and 2007 FCRSA national specialties.  Madison was the national specialty BOB winner at the 2005 national in Perry, GA!  Now retired from all-breed competition and breeding, Madison is enjoying a career going to the occasional Veteran competitions at all-breed shows and in 3 appearances in the veteran Sporting Group, she won two Group 1sts, and one Group 2nd!  She was also named Best of Opposite Sex (from veteran's class) at the Southern Skies FCRC supported entry in Florida.  At the 2009 FCRSA national specialty, Madison won the 7-9 veteran class, as well as the brood bitch class, and was in the final cut for Best of Breed.  Madison continued her winning ways at the 2010 national specialty, winning BOS in veteran's sweeps and placing 2nd in the regular veteran's class.  She continues to be exhibited at supported entries and national specialties.  Madison is co-owned with Donna Slavin and Cathy Pullian.  OFA information  Eyes exam is normal. 

CH Bertschire Dutch Treat - "Patate" is pick bitch from Venus' last litter.  Patate shows much promise all the way around.  She placed 2nd in puppy sweeps and 3rd in her 6-9 month regular class at the 2005 national specialty, and was Reserve Winner's Bitch at a supported entry at 14 months of age.  She has a lovely head, correct length and depth of rib, beautiful topline and nice movement, with perhaps the best silhouette in our house.  Patate has retired to FlatOut retrievers, where she will continue her show and breeding career with Nikki and Chris Runyan, owners of her sire.  At the 2009 FCRSA national specialty, Patate was awarded a Judge's Award of Merit!  Eye exam is normal.  OFA information

 

Bertschire Beretta - "Barrett" is our pick bitch out of Venus and Robin.  Very elegant and feminine while still carrying excellent bone and substance and sound moving from all directions.  Barrett has won both majors for a total of 6 points in just 2 weekends of showing and loves to retrieve.  Barrett has been a beloved pet since her one and only litter, which produced a national specialty RWD/WD/BOS (in successive years) and a group-placing bitch, among several talented and beautiful littermates..  Eye exam is normal.  OFA information

CH Bertschire's Bad To The Bone

Bones is a littermate to Leroy. She has an excellent head and silhouette.  She has produced 3 litters to date. Her get have championships and multiple working titles, including 2 Senior Hunters, one that also had Sporting Group placements!  Bones earned a Judges Award of Merit at the 2000 and 2003 national specialties and won the 9-11 year veteran's class at the 2006 national specialty.  OFA information   Bones passed away at 10 years of age.

CH Bertschire's One Last Lick CD SH WCX

Slick was an engaging bitch offering exceptional soundness and a high level of talent and trainability.  She earned her field titles before her third birthday, and her first litter (whelped July 2001) shows promise for the same characteristics. Her most recent litter also shows promise at 6 months. Slick has multiple placements at national specialties, including 2nd in both the field and working bitch classes. Slick passed away at nearly 10 years of age.   OFA information

CH Bertschire's Serena Williams JH WCX

Serena is a beautiful bitch with a classic head type and lovely silhouette.  She has proven to be capable of doing advanced field work, with 2 Senior Hunter legs to her credit.  She has won 2 consecutive Judge's Award of Merit at national specialties.  Most recently, Serena earned a Best of Opposite Sex in veteran's sweepstakes and also won her regular veteran's class at the 2006 national specialty in St Louis.  Serena passed away at 10 years of age. Bertschire's Venus Williams

Venus is a littermate to Serena.  Her show career consists of one national specialty, where she was Best in Puppy Sweeps (Texas, 1998), at just a few days over 6 months of age.  Within a few months of that national, Venus was hit by a car and her show career was ended.  She has a lovely head, nice silhouette and good size. Venus is a very sweet dog; good with other dogs, cats and she loves people.  Venus lived to one month shy of 14 yrs old, happy and healthy until 2 days before her death.  OFA information

 

CH Bertschire Something Wicked JH NA NAJ WC

Brad has been very influential in our breeding program.  The sire of Leroy and Bones, he has contributed lovely breed type, working ability and kind temperament. 

Brad made the final cut in Best of Breed at the 2000 national specialty, and has placed in every veteran's class he has entered.  Brad is co-owned with Terri Seeley.  Brad passed away in December 2002.  His legacy will remain.  OFA information

 

CH Bear Country X-File JH WCX

Scully is a small bitch of excellent bone and substance.  Her pedigree is very strong for working talent, and she has boundless energy.  Scully's first litter has produced nicely, with one pup placing in both of her classes at the 2003 national specialty, and another winning Best In Sweeps at a supported entry in California as well as a Senior Hunter daughter.  Shown at 2 national specialties, Scully won her class at the 2000 national specialty, and placed 4th in the competitive Working Retriever class at the 2001 specialty.  Scully had to spayed in early 2004 due to a medical condition.  OFA information

Scully was bred by, and is co-owned with Sherie and Clint Catledge of Bear Country Retrievers.
