Retired Breeding Stock
The following dogs and bitches have produced for us, but are now retired from our breeding program and are spayed or neutered and happily enjoying life in pet homes. They can be found in our pedigrees, and we want to keep their pictures and pedigrees available online.
Bertschire Dutch Treat - "Patate" is pick bitch from Venus' last litter. Patate shows much promise all the way around. She placed 2nd in puppy sweeps and 3rd in her 6-9 month regular class at the 2005 national specialty, and was Reserve Winner's Bitch at a supported entry at 14 months of age. She has a lovely head, correct length and depth of rib, beautiful topline and nice movement, with perhaps the best silhouette in our house. Patate has retired to FlatOut retrievers, where she will continue her show and breeding career with Nikki and Chris Runyan, owners of her sire. Eye exam is normal. OFA information
Bertschire Beretta - "Barrett" is our pick bitch out of Venus and Robin. Very elegant and feminine while still carrying excellent bone and substance and sound moving from all directions. Barrett has won both majors for a total of 6 points in just 2 weekends of showing and loves to retrieve. Eye exam is normal. OFA information CH Bertschire's Bad To The Bone Bones is a littermate to Leroy. She has an excellent head and silhouette. She has produced 3 litters to date. Her get have championships and multiple working titles, including 2 Senior Hunters, one that also had Sporting Group placements! Bones earned a Judges Award of Merit at the 2000 and 2003 national specialties and won the 9-11 year veteran's class at the 2006 national specialty. CH Bertschire's One Last Lick CD SH WCX Slick was an engaging bitch offering exceptional soundness and a high level of talent and trainability. She earned her field titles before her third birthday, and her first litter (whelped July 2001) shows promise for the same characteristics. Her most recent litter also shows promise at 6 months. Slick has multiple placements at national specialties, including 2nd in both the field and working bitch classes. Slick passed away at nearly 10 years of age. CH Bertschire's Serena Williams JH WCX Serena is a beautiful bitch with a classic head type and lovely silhouette. She has proven to be capable of doing advanced field work, with 2 Senior Hunter legs to her credit. She has won 2 consecutive Judge's Award of Merit at national specialties. Most recently, Serena earned a Best of Opposite Sex in veteran's sweepstakes and also won her regular veteran's class at the 2006 national specialty in St Louis. Serena passed away at 10 years of age. OFA information Serena is co-owned with Nancy Cavallo.
Venus is a littermate to Serena. Her show career consists of one national specialty, where she was Best in Puppy Sweeps (Texas, 1998), at just a few days over 6 months of age. Within a few months of that national, Venus was hit by a car and her show career was ended. She has a lovely head, nice silhouette and good size. Venus is a very sweet dog; good with other dogs, cats and she loves people. Venus is owned by Nancy Cavallo and lives the life of a princess with Jeanne Lin and Bernie Strozeski. OFA information
CH Bertschire Something Wicked JH NA NAJ WC Brad has been very influential in our breeding program. The sire of Leroy and Bones, he has contributed lovely breed type, working ability and kind temperament. Brad made the final cut in Best of Breed at the 2000 national specialty, and has placed in every veteran's class he has entered. Brad is co-owned with Terri Seeley. Brad passed away in December 2002. His legacy will remain. OFA information
Scully is a small bitch of excellent bone and substance. Her pedigree is very strong for working talent, and she has boundless energy. Scully's first litter has produced nicely, with one pup placing in both of her classes at the 2003 national specialty, and another winning Best In Sweeps at a supported entry in California. Shown at 2 national specialties, Scully won her class at the 2000 national specialty, and placed 4th in the competitive Working Retriever class at the 2001 specialty.
